On Wednesday 15 April, 2026, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, made known, he had a breakfast meeting with the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, alongside, his European Union (EU) colleagues, Germany, Canada and France.
Via X, Obi announced: “Today in Abuja, I had a breakfast meeting with some diplomats that included, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria and his Colleagues from European Union, Germany, Canada, and France. It was an enriching discussion on relationships.”
Following the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Convention 2026 which held in Abuja, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate called on Nigerians to “quickly move from celebration to responsibility”, saying, Nigeria has a lot of “serious challenges” it is facing, including, “economic hardship and insecurity”.
The ADC National Convention which held on Thursday was yet another “defining moment” in democratic journey of Nigeria, he said on X.
The erstwhile Labour Party (LP) member thanked David Mark, National Chairman of the ADC, for his “calm guidance” which paves “direction” for the Party at “critical moments”.
In his post-convention statement, Obi said: “Yesterday, we witnessed yet another defining moment in our democratic journey as the ADC convention was held successfully against all odds.
“I must respectfully appreciate the leadership of our party, ably led by the Chairman, Distinguished Senator David Mark, whose calm and steady guidance continues to provide direction at critical moments.
“However, now that the convention has come and gone, we must move quickly from celebration to responsibility.Nigeria is facing very serious challenges, economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and a general sense of uncertainty among our people. These issues require urgent attention, clear thinking, and decisive action.”
Obi opined, for Nigeria to move forward, “unity and sacrifice” are required. He said, the welfare of Nigerians must be “first” and positioned above “personal interest and politics”
He said: “The way forward demands unity, sacrifice, and integrity. We must put Nigeria first, above personal interests, above politics, and above all forms of division.”
