FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: Top Goalscorers – Mbappe tops list with five, Messi and Giroud joint second

The hustle for the Golden Boot Award, which is being presented to the top goalscorer of the tournament, has kicked off at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

There is an intense competition for the elite prize at Qatar 2022 by the best footballers in the world, encompassing some legends of the sport.

The Golden Boot Award at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar started with Ecuador’s Enner Valencia, who found the back of the net twice against host nation, Qatar, in the opening match of the tournament.

Among all players featuring in Qatar, Thomas Muller of Germany has the most World Cup goals, with ten strikes across four campaigns (2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022).

Another German, Miroslav Klose, holds the record for the highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cups, scoring a total of 16 goals across four editions (2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014) of the tournament.

The German sharpshooter is closely followed by Brazilian striker, Ronaldo, who has 15 goals.

In Qatar 2022, France and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward, Kylian Mbappe, is sitting comfortably at the top spot of the list of goalscorers with 5 goals while Argentina and PSG forward, Lionel Messi; France and AC Milan striker, Olivier Giroud; and England and Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka are joint second with 3 goals.
