2023 Elections: INEC kicks off distribution of PVC – 5 things to know

Nigerians who have newly registered to vote in the 2023 general elections will be able to collect their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) as from today 12 December 2023, to enable them exercise their rights.

This was announced at the weekend by Festus Okoye, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education.

The decision to begin distribution of the PVCs today, as disclosed by Okoye, was taken at a conference with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Okoye said: “It will be recalled that the Commission held a retreat in Lagos with all the Administrative Secretaries and Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECS) from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory from 28th November to 2nd December 2022. At the retreat, the Commission finalised the procedure as well as the timetable for collection of PVCs.


“Consequently, the Commission has fixed Monday 12 December 2022 to Sunday 22 January 2023 as the dates for the collection of PVCs in all the 774 Local Government Offices of the Commission throughout the Federation.”

About the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) Collection, here are five things to know ⬇️

  1. PVC Collection will take place across the 8,809 Registration Areas/Wards across the country.
  2. The PVC at the 8,809 Registration Areas/Wards will last from January 6 to 15, 2023.
  3. PVCs can be collected between 9am and 3pm daily, encompassing Saturdays and Sundays.
  4. Collection of PVC after January 15 2023, can be done at the Local Government Offices of INEC until 22 January 2023.
  5. In order to collect the PVC, the Temporary Voter’s Card has to be presented to the INEC officials.
