As announced by Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto, the holy fasting month of Ramadan kicks off today, Thursday 23 March, 2023.

Sultan Abubakar, who is also the president of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), made this known via a broadcast, Wednesday night.
The announcement is coming after the sighting of the crescent moon from various locations in Nigeria, as revealed by the National Moonsighting Committee.
A statement released by the Sultan, says “the Sultan felicitates with the entire Muslim community on the auspicious occasion of the forthcoming 1444AH Ramadan Fast.”
Sultan Abubakar prayed that Allah spare the lives of all Muslims to be part of the exercise as well as to maximize the benefits.
