EFL Cup 2024/25: Newcastle 2-0 Arsenal – Murphy, Gordon send Magpies into final

Newcastle United defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the EFL Cup semi final second leg at St. James’ Park on Wednesday 5 February, 2025 to reach the final for the second time in three (3) seasons.

Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon struck for Eddie Howe’s Magpies in the 19th and 52nd minutes respectively to send Newcastle United into the final with a 4-0 aggregate win over Mikel Arteta’s Gunners.

Swedish sharpshooter, Alexander Isak’s early goal, in the 7th minute was cancelled by VAR.

Newcastle United will face either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

Liverpool will host Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday 6 February, 2025 at Anfield for their semi final second leg match at 21:00 (WAT).
