Arsenal V Leeds United: Havertz injured, Rice doubtful ahead of Premier League clash at Emirates

Mikel Arteta, head coach of Arsenal, has released an update on the fitness and availablity of his side ahead of the top flight encounter against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

After the international break, the English Premier League comes back with the reigning Kings of England, Arsenal, welcoming Leeds United for the Premier League 2026/27 match at Emirates Stadium on Saturday 10 October, 2026 at 12:30 (WAT).

Some Gunners returned to the Sobha Realty Training Centre earlier than expected, including, Havertz, who was withdrawn during the opening game between his country, Germany, and the Netherlands in Amsterdam.

Arteta disclosed to Arsenal official website (arsenal.com), he had a conversation with Germany head coach, Jurgen Klopp, on Havertz, which led to the return of the forward to England.

Greek left winger, Christos Tzolis, suffered an injury as a substitute, during the game between his country, Greece and the Netherlands, which finished 2-2.

It remains uncertain whether Ezri Konsa, England defender, will feature for the Gunners when they clash with the Peacocks in London.

At his pre-Leeds United press conference, Arteta said: “With Kai because he had a muscular injury. I spoke to Jurgen [Klopp] and immediately they sent the player back, as is normal. Ezri has been carrying some issues as well, and we had good communication with the England camp about that.

“Tzolis has a muscle injury and he’s going to be out I think for a few weeks. He’s not available yet.”

Defensive midfielder, Declan Rice, was missing in action for England all through the international break due to slight, persistent injury.

The Spanish manager said, Rice has been suffering a “few issues” since he returned from the FIFA World Cup 2026. He however expressed hope the midfielder will field for the Gunners against Leeds United.

Arteta said: “We have to manage him because he’s had a few issues since he’s come back from the World Cup. We know the amount of games he’s played in the last three years. It was the sensible thing to do, and hopefully tomorrow he’s available.”

In the defense, Arsenal have their options strengthened following the return of Ben White. The centre-back had been fielding for Arsenal after suffering a groin injury in the win against Sunderland last month.

Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera are back to full fitness also.

Arteta said: “…they are both available, and Ben White as well.”

Ahead of the Saturday showdown, Arsenal are second on the table with twelve (12) points, while, Leeds United are 5th with nine (9) points, both after five (5) games.
