Bochum will face German Kings, Bayern Munich, in the top flight on Sunday 18 February, 2024 at Vonovia Ruhrstadion at 17:30 (WAT).
In his press conference ahead of the encounter on Sunday, Tuchel described Bochum as a “physical” side.
About the Uefa Champions League 2023/24 match between Bayern Munich and Lazio, Tuchel gave reason why the Bavarians were unable to clinch victory at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy.
The German manager said, Bayern couldn’t defeat their Italian hosts due to a “gloomy atmosphere”, however, he expressed hope that, his side will scale through the round of 16 of the tournament.
He said, “we aren’t out of the Champions League just yet. We’re all committed to turning things around.”
On the squad, Tuchel said: “Sacha Boey will miss the game due to a muscle injury. He’ll be out for a few weeks. Nobody’s going to be making their comeback against Bochum.”
On the UCL loss at Lazio, Tuchel said: “It’s a strange situation. The atmosphere is obviously a little gloomy, because we expected a reaction from ourselves.
That being said, we’ve only lost the first leg and aren’t out of the Champions League just yet. We’re all committed to turning things around. In my experience, it’s only possible to do so on the training pitch, which is what we did yesterday. We’ll give it our all in order to muster up the energy we need to reverse our fortunes.”
On Bochum, Tuchel said: “They’re a physical team. They do a lot of running. Bochum played well against Stuttgart and Augsburg. I’m expecting a real fight. As usual, we tweaked the training sessions during the week in light of this.”
He added: “We want to prove ourselves. The situation we find ourselves in at the moment might give us the push we need to kick on again. We’ll keep pushing the players. We treat them all the same individually and within the group. We need every single player.”
