Following the collapse of a two-storey building housing a school on Friday morning in Plateau State, at least, 16 have been reported dead.

According to BBC News Africa: “At least 16 students are reported dead after a two-storey building housing a school collapsed on Friday morning in Nigeria’s central Plateau state.
“BBC’s @Chrisewokor reports that scores of students and teachers are believed trapped, with many wounded in the disaster. The building of Saints Academy, located in Busa-buji, Jos North Local Government area, caved in while school was in session.
“The school premises are crowded with frantic parents searching for their children. Many who have seen the bodies of their children are inconsolable.
“Rescue workers and emergency officials are racing against time to save those trapped, using excavators to dig through the rubble. Several bodies of students have been retrieved, but the exact number of casualties is not yet clear.
“The school hosts more than one thousand students. The cause of the collapse is still unknown at this moment.
“Many parents have rushed to hospitals in Jos metropolis to look for their missing children.
“Medics are calling for urgent donations of blood to support the many injured students who have been rushed to the hospitals.
“We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.”
