I also provided some updates of our own:
“Yesterday, I approved 100% percent federal cost share for emergency response activities in FL, GA, NC, and TN.
This will cover the costs for the work to remove debris; surge additional first responders and search and rescue teams; set up shelters; and provide food and water.
@USDA is on the ground to support farmers, ranchers, and small businesses impacted by the storm. And
@FEMA is knocking doors to register folks to receive financial assistance.
“To date, more than $20 million in Individual Assistance has been provided to thousands of survivors who have been affected by Hurricane Helene, and FEMA has shipped over 9.3 million meals, over 11.2 million liters of water, 150 generators, and over 260,000 tarps to the region.”
President Biden continued:
“Hurricane Helene became one of the strongest hurricanes ever to hit Florida and Southern Georgia. Families lost everything.
And this wasn’t the first time. They’ve experienced three of these storms in just over a year.
I grieve with you. And your nation has your back.

It’s going to take time to restore this neighborhood. But the federal government is staying until the work is done.”
