Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, received His Excellency, Romuald Wadagni, President of the Republic of Benin, on his arrival at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos on Monday 1 June, 2026.
Wadagni’s visit shows the “strong ties” that exists between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said via X: “his visit reflects the strong ties between our neighbouring nations and our shared commitment to deeper regional cooperation”.
Wadagni was inaugurated to take over from President Patrice Talon on May 24, 2026 after his victory in the April 12, 2026 Presidential Election.
Vice President, Kashim Shettima, was delegated by President Tinubu to represent him at the inauguration last weekend.
