‘We will get to the moon’: NASA working with Blue Origin to recover, get New Glenn back to launching

NASA Administrator, Jared Isaacman, has made known NASA is working intimately with the Blue Origin team to “recover, advance lunar lander and get New Glenn” back to launching.

Isaacman’s statement is coming following the explosion of the New Glenn rocket in Florida State, United States (US).

The New Glenn rocket of the Blue Origin Company, owned by American businessman, Jeff Bezos, exploded during test causing an enormous fireball, with residents around reporting a huge shine in the sky.

The NASA Administrator visited the US Federal Government Independent Agency’s Kennedy Space Centre with some senior Space engineers, where he spent some time with Bezos, and Dave Limp, Blue Origin CEO, and inspected the damage by himself.

Via X, Isaacman thanked those who talked to him following the explosion, saying, they helped him “better understand the challenges ahead”.

Isaacman said: “Some of my senior engineers and I spent time at @blueorigin with @JeffBezos and @davill, speaking with the workforce and seeing the damage at LC-36 firsthand. I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from those working through the aftermath and better understand the challenges ahead.”

Earlier, Isaacman had said, humans will “inevitably go to Mars”, however, admitted, “there is still a lot of work to do”. He said, it is one of the reasons people choose career in aerospace.

He made it clear, NASA will not relent, saying, America’s “most pressing objectives” must be achieved.

Isaacman said: “There is a lot of work to do, but this is exactly why people choose careers in aerospace, whether at NASA, Blue Origin, or across the industry. The talent in this field thrives under pressure and performs at its best when solving the toughest problems.

“We have been saying for months at NASA that we are not going to sit on our hands and wait for the capabilities necessary to achieve the nation’s most pressing objectives.

“We are going to take an active role alongside our partners, just as we did in the 1960s, to overcome setbacks, remove obstacles, and deliver the intended outcomes.”

He further said: “@NASA is committed to helping the Blue team recover, continue to advance their lunar lander and get New Glenn back to launching as soon as safely possible.”

Reacting to Isaacman’s statement, Jeff Bezos appreciated the NASA Administrator for visiting, saying, the “support” means so much to the Blue Origin team.

He affirmed on X, the New Glenn rocket will return to flight and “we will get to the Moon”.

Jeff Bezos said: “Thank you for being here today. Your support means a lot to the whole team. We will get back to flight, and we will get to the Moon. Gradatim Ferociter.”
