Rio Ferdinand reacts to Man U’s return to UCL, Arsenal’s victory, Guardiola’s exit from Man City

Formee Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has sent his “good luck” message to all teams who remain in the English top tier football following the conclusion of the Premier League 2025/26, as well as, to Guardiola and Salah, as both have contributed so much to the League as they depart their respective clubs.

Reacting to the race to the Premier League 2025/26 title, which saw Mikel Arteta lead his side to triumph, the English central defender, congratulated Arsenal, who lifted their first title in a long twenty-two (22) years.

Via X, the former Queens Park Rangers (QPR) player, hailed Manchester United, who climbed from “15th to 3rd”, and, returned to the Uefa Champions League.

United were able to achieve all these outstanding feats after Portuguese manager, Reuben Amorim, was sacked and replaced with Michael Carrick, who led the Reds back to brilliance.

He also hailed AFC Bournemouth, Sunderland and Brighton for finishing well in the season; the Cherries and the Saints will feature in next season’s Uefa Europa League, while, Brighton clinched a spot in the Uefa Europa Conference League 2026/27.

Ferdinand opined, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) needs to be “fixed” ahead of the new season.

In his reaction to the outcome of the Premier League 2025/26, Ferdinand said: “Premier League been a belter… title race down to the wire! Congrats to Arsenal… United jump from 15th to 3rd + back in UCL.

“Gutted to see West Ham relegated, needs big changes for their future! Shout out to Bournemouth, Sunderland + Brighton. Special mention to Keith Andrews at Brentford, thought it was going to tricky. One thing that needs fixing next season – VAR”.

Manchester United Portuguese midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, emerged Player Of The Season; Arsenal head coach, Mikel Arteta, carted home Manager Of The Season; while Sunderland won Biggest Achiever.

Ferdinand, who played for AFC Bournemouth on loan, expressed his appreciation to Pep Guardiola, who ended his managerial relationship with Manchester City after a decade, and Mohamed Salah, who parted ways with Liverpool after nine (9) years.

He said, both have “brought a lot” to the English top flight, and prayed “good luck” for them as they move on.
