‘Enough is Enough’ – Obi reacts to ‘painful attack’ in Jos

“Nigeria bleeds”, Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, said, in his reaction after receiving “disturbing news and images from a painful attack” which happened at the Angwa Rukuba area, Jos North, Plateau State.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) member cried on X, the “loss” of Nigerians on their own soil is “steadily normalising”, adding, it is “unacceptable”.

Obi expressed disgust that, these attacks are happening and there is no “decisive” plan to put an end to them.

He said: “The recurring loss of innocent lives in Plateau State reminds us, yet again, of the insecurity innocent citizens face in our nation without any protection. These continuous devastating headlines are a reminder of a nation that is steadily normalising the loss of its own people.

“It is unacceptable that these attacks happen with such frequency, and even more unacceptable that there seems to be no decisive, sustained strategy to end them. No nation or leader normalises tragedy.”

“Enough is enough”, the former Labour Party (LP) member said; he added, “the safety of Nigerian lives must become non-negotiable, we cannot continue to mourn what should have been prevented”.

Obi expressed his condolences to the families who have lost loved ones and prayed, “may the souls of the departed rest in peace, and their memories never be forgotten”.

He further prayed, “that we get a country where the loss of lives is no longer a recurring reality.”

Also, reacting to the unfortunate incident in Jos, ADC member, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, described the attack as “barbaric” and made known, it claimed more than twenty (20) lives.

Kwankwaso posted on X: “The barbaric attack on the Gari Ya Waye community in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, which claimed the lives of no fewer than 27 Nigerians and left many others injured, is yet another tragic and shameful chapter in our nation’s history.

“It demands to be treated as the national emergency that it was declared to be by the Federal and State Governments.

“My heartfelt condolences and prayers go to the families of the victims and the injured.”
