Spanish La Liga giants, Real Madrid, have come out to clarify via a public announcement that, it never made any move for the signature of Argentine midfielder, Enzo Fernandez.
The clarification is coming following recent information spreading that, the Club have made “efforts” for the player.
The public announcement on the official website of the Club reads: “In light of the information and statements that have emerged in recent days regarding an alleged interest from Real Madrid C. F. in the player Enzo Fernández,
“the club wishes to state that it has not made any efforts, either directly or indirectly, aimed at signing the aforementioned player and, furthermore, has no intention of pursuing such an operation.”
The Los Blancos said, it has “respect” for Fernandez, who is currently on international duty for his home country, Argentina, at the FIFA World Cup 2026, as well as, for his Club, Chelsea FC.
The 15-time Uefa Champions League Winners said, it has an “institutional relationship” which it describes as “excellent” with the Blues; and for these reasons, it has made the decision to “categorically deny these speculations”, which it tagged as “unfounded”.
The announcement continues: “Real Madrid wishes to express its utmost respect for Enzo Fernández, a great footballer whose career and quality are widely recognized, as well as for Chelsea FC, a club with which it maintains an excellent institutional relationship.
“Precisely out of respect for an institution like Chelsea FC and the principles of institutional loyalty that have always guided Real Madrid’s actions, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny these speculations, which are unfounded and do not reflect reality.”
Real Madrid expressed “regret” that, despite clarifications, information on the signing of Fernandez by the Club has not stopped “to be disseminated”, saying, it “does not correspond to reality”, and ultimately bringing “confusion” on fans, as well as, “unnecessary harm to entities and individuals”.
The announcement concludes: “Real Madrid regrets that, despite the clarity of the facts and the absence of any action by the club, information continues to be disseminated that does not correspond to reality and only serves to create confusion among fans and unnecessarily harm the entities and individuals involved.”
Enzo Fernandez, who has won the FIFA World Cup in 2022, is expected to field for Argentina when the White and Sky Blue face Cape Verde in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 match on Friday 3 July, 2026 at Miami Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida, United States (US) at 23:00 (WAT).
