Mount and Sesko score as Manchester United win 2-0 at home against Sunderland

Manchester United defeated Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday 4 October, 2025 in the Premier League match at Old Trafford, thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko.

The showdown handed goalkeeper Senne Lammens his debut for Manchester United, after his deadline-day transfer from Belgian side Royal Antwerp this summer, and he marked the occasion with a clean sheet.

Converting Cameroonian forward, Bryan Mbeumo’s assist, Mount opened scoring for Ruben Amorim Reds early, in the 8th minute, and Sesko netted the second in the 31st minute.

The two (2) goals proved enough to land the Reds all three (3) points in the Saturday afternoon match; both goalkeepers, Lammens and Robin Roefs, made good saves at crucial moments.

The home side were obviously the better side and could have punished their visitors even more but for Roefs making some good saves.
