The Governor made the remark as he welcomed Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe-led the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Change.
According to the Delta State Government: “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori welcomed the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Change led by Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe, Director General/CEO of the National Council on Climate Change Secretariat, Abuja.
Governor Oborevwori who was represented by Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, the Deputy Governor of Delta State in his remarks emphasized the state government’s interest in partnering with the federal government in preserving its mangrove ecosystem noting that it would enhance resilience and biodiversity in line with global best practices.
Sir Onyeme further highlighted the proactive steps undertaken by the administration to preserve the mangrove ecosystem in the state. He pointed out the signed agreement between Serendib Nigeria Limited, stating that the partnership with the federal government would hasten its plans to achieve the desired results in the preservation of the mangrove ecosystem in the state thereby making it economically viable for our people.”
