Swedish striker, Viktor Gyokores, recorded his home debut with a brace as Arsenal made light work of Leeds United to make it two victories from two at the start of the Premier League campaign.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners found themselves two goals in front at the break thanks to a Jurrien Timber header in the 34th minute and Bukayo Saka’s injury-time strike which took the game away from the visitors, and shortly into the second half, Gyokeres showed his pace and power to get open his home account.
The hosts netted their fourth when Timber scored his second in the 56th minute, and Gyokeres sealed victory for Arsenal in the 5th minute of additional time from the penalty spot.
In his post-Leeds comments to SkySports, Arteta said: “A lot to be excited by. A really positive afternoon to start the season off at home, You could feel the energy immediately, that it had gone up a level and that is what we were looking for.
“The team played really well, really confident. The team created a lot and did not concede anything. Five goals and a clean sheet is a really good start.”
Goalscorer, Gyokeres, said: “It was amazing to feel that support from minute one to the end.”
