President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced, “Ukraine has delivered 14.5 thousand tons of corn to Malawi as part of the humanitarian program “Grain From Ukraine”.”

The Ukrainian President further announced, “almost 5 thousand tons more will be delivered in the coming weeks”, saying, “we know that Malawi is experiencing a devastating drought this year, which has destroyed a significant portion of local maize production and caused severe food insecurity”.
According to President Zelenskyy: “Ukraine has delivered 14.5 thousand tons of corn to Malawi as part of the humanitarian program “Grain From Ukraine”. Almost 5 thousand tons more will be delivered in the coming weeks. I am grateful to the UN World Food Programme and partners for supporting this effort.
We know that Malawi is experiencing a devastating drought this year, which has destroyed a significant portion of local maize production and caused severe food insecurity. In these circumstances, we decided to lend a helping hand to the people and government of Malawi.
This delivery of Ukrainian corn will help to stabilize the situation and provide for the monthly needs of over 1.5 million Malawians. Ukraine remains committed to its role as a global food security guarantor, even as it defends itself against Russia’s full-scale invasion and attacks on our ports and agricultural infrastructure.
Ukraine’s goal is not only to provide food in times of need, but also to share knowledge and technology with our African partners to help them become more self-sufficient and independent in agricultural production. This will be one of the main focus areas of the upcoming 3rd Food Security Summit in Kyiv.
We rely on a broad representation of African states and other partners at this important event. We can overcome the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine by standing together and upholding the principles of the UN Charter.”
