‘Your victory is a lesson of hope’ – GEJ congratulates Super Falcons after WAFCON victory

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former President, has sent congratulations to the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON) triumph in Morocco.

Jonathan said, “Your victory is a lesson of hope”, adding, “with unity, faith and perseverance”, Nigeria can achieve its “national aspirations”.

GEJ wrote on X: “Congratulations @NGSuper_Falcons on winning the #TotalEnergiesWAFCON2024 for a record 10th time( #Missionx).

“Your hard work and team spirit saw you fight back from two goals down to defeat the host Moroccan team by a margin of 3- 2.

“Your victory is a lesson of hope. One that highlights our possibilities as a nation; that with unity, faith and perseverance, we can achieve our national aspirations no matter how daunting the challages we face.

“Thank you for making us proud. Congratulations on your achievement of #MissionX, the first in our continent’s history.”

Nigeria came from two goals behind to beat Morocco 3-2 in the WAFCON final in Rabat on Saturday 26 July, 2025.
