Bashir Ahmad, Special Adviser to former President, Muhammadu Buhari, said, the People’s Democratic (PDP), which he tagged “once largest party in Africa” is quickly becoming a forgotten project as the Party “has now been laid to rest”.
Ahmad’s statement is coming following the defections of two Governors under the ‘Umbrella’ Party to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governors of Delta and Akwa Ibom States, Sheriff Oborevwori and Umo Eno, respectively, alongside their Deputies and PDP members of their States, dumped the PDP for the APC.
Also, Ahmad’s statement is coming following the emergence of the Coalition Party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as well as, appointments of Interm Leaders of the Party.
Bashir Ahmad wrote on X: “In all honesty, the once largest party in Africa, the PDP, has now been laid to rest. Their governors are trooping into our party, while their key leaders have pitched their tent with the ADC. (shegiyar uwa)”
The ADC has appointed Rauf Aregbesola and David Mark as Interim National Secretary and Interim National Chairman respectively.
