Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has given account of his administration’s “journey so far and the work we’ve done in just two years” to Ndi Enugu.
Mbah said, he started “this journey with a vision: to lay the foundations for a prosperous Enugu, built on access, equity, and excellence.”
In his address, the Governor listed his government’s achievements in just two (2) years, including, “800 kilometres of roads, connecting our farms, markets, industries, schools, and hospitals; five ultra-modern transport terminals—Holy Ghost Terminals 1 and 2, Gariki, Abakpa, and Nsukka Terminals”, among other projects “ready to be commissioned”.
Governor Mbah said: “At Okpara Square, we stood before our people to give account of our journey so far and the work we’ve done in just two years. We began this journey with a vision: to lay the foundations for a prosperous Enugu, built on access, equity, and excellence.
“As I stated in my address to Ndi Enugu today, we have built over 800 kilometres of roads, connecting our farms, markets, industries, schools, and hospitals. We have delivered five ultra-modern transport terminals—Holy Ghost Terminals 1 and 2, Gariki, Abakpa, and Nsukka Terminals—all ready to be commissioned.”
On education, Mbah disclosed, “33 percent of the State’s entire budget was allocated to education alone”, saying, the move surpasses “global benchmarks, because of our firm belief in quality education”.
He also said, to improve the quality of education in the Southeastern State, his administration is close to completing “260 Smart Green Schools, equipped with digital whiteboards, science labs, and solar-powered learning spaces”.
Mbah made known: “Significantly, we allocated 33 percent of our entire budget to education alone, surpassing global benchmarks, because of our firm belief in quality education. Our 260 Smart Green Schools, equipped with digital whiteboards, science labs, and solar-powered learning spaces, are on the way. Alongside this, we are constructing 260 fully equipped Primary Healthcare Centres across every ward, ensuring no mother fears childbirth due to distance or neglect.”
The Governor disclosed to Ndi Enugu another priority of his government which is “security”, saying, it “remains our foundation”.
He said, a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre and deployed 150 AI-enabled patrol vehicles has been launched, and that, “violent crime” has reduced in the State, “and our people can travel, trade, and sleep in peace again”.
Mbah said: “Security remains our foundation. We launched a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre and deployed 150 AI-enabled patrol vehicles. Today, violent crime is on the decline, and our people can travel, trade, and sleep in peace again.
“We have grown our internally generated revenue by over 600 percent, revived moribund assets, launched fresh investment drives, and improved our ease of doing business. We are establishing a 300,000-hectare Landbank and rolling out 200-hectare Farm Estates in every ward to boost agro-industrial production for both export and the local economy.”
The Governor said, he is working towards “overhauling our transport system with 200 CNG buses and 2,000 city taxis” as he announced the launch of Enugu Air.
Concluding his address, Mbah said: “We completed the Enugu International Conference Centre and launched Enugu Air—a bold move positioning Enugu on the global stage. Among others, we are overhauling our transport system with 200 CNG buses and 2,000 city taxis, while introducing ticketing technology to ease transport costs for families.
“I am deeply encouraged by the support of respected leaders and you all, my dear people of Enugu State. This is only the beginning of our story. Let’s do more.”
