Governor of Bayelsa State, Duoye Diri, has sent his “hearty congratulations” to the State’s female football team, Bayelsa Queens, for winning the 2025 National Women Football League (NWFL).
Diri said, “I am very proud of this achievement, a record 6th time league trophy coming to Bayelsa State”, adding, “I would be waiting to receive the Nigerian champions in Yenagoa in line with our tradition of rewarding hard work and excellence in sports”.
Bayelsa Queens emerged champions of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) with a beautiful 4-1 triumph against Naija Ratels on the final day of the Super Six playoffs held at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
In his congratulatory message, Governor Diri (X/@govduoyediri) wrote: “Hearty congratulations to our dear female football team, Bayelsa Queens for winning the 2025 National Women Football League (NWFL).
“I am very proud of this achievement, a record 6th time league trophy coming to Bayelsa State. Yes, the Prosperity Girls have equally picked the ticket to represent Nigeria in the 2025 CAF Women Champions League.
“I would be waiting to receive the Nigerian champions in Yenagoa in line with our tradition of rewarding hard work and excellence in sports.
