Nigerian record producer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly called Burna Boy, has bagged two 2023 Grammy nominations in the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ and ‘Best Global Music Album’ categories.

The 2023 Grammy nominations (officially known as the 65th Grammy Awards) were announced on Tuesday 15 November, 2022, and the event is scheduled to take place on Sunday 5 February, 2023 at the Los Angeles Crypto.com Arena.
The special ceremony’s broadcast time, presenters, hosts as well as performers will be announced soon.
In his first nomination, ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category, Nigeria’s Burna Boy got nominated alongside Arooj Aftab & Anoushka Shankar, Matt B & Eddy Kenzo, Rocky Dawuni Featuring Blvk H3ro, Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini & Nomcebo Zikode.

In his second nomination, ‘Best Global Music Album’ category, Burna Boy got nominated alongside Berklee Indian Ensemble, Angélique Kidjo & Ibrahim Maalouf, Anoushka Shankar, Metropole Orkest & Jules Buckley Featuring Manu Delago and Masa Takumi.

Also, Nigerian record producer, Temilade Openiyi, professionally called Tems, got nominated in two categories – ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ and ‘Best Rap song’.
Tems got nominated for her contribution in American rapper Nayvadius DeMun Cash, popularly known as Future’s song ‘Wait For U’, where he also featured Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, popularly known as Drake.
American singer, Beyonce Knowles-Carter, leads the 2023 Grammy race with nine nominations.
The ‘Break My Soul’ crooner’s album ‘Renaissance’ got nominated for ‘Album Of The Year’, and she has won 28 Grammys in total. If it happens that she wins more next year, she could potentially defeat conductor Georg Solti’s record of 31 wins.
Kendrick Lemar follows as second with eight nominations. He will lock horns with Beyonce in three categories – ‘Album, Song and Record Of The Year’ categories.
New categories have been included in the 2023 Grammy Awards like ‘songwriter of the year (non-classical)’, ‘best alternative music performance’ and ‘best Americana performance’.
