Lennart Karl, 18-year old German attacking midfielder, opened the scoring for Bayern Munich against Atletico Madrid to help the German Kings maintain their unbeaten start to the Uefa Champions League 2026/27.
Guided by English manager, Aaron Danks, Bayern Munich defeated Atletico Madrid 2-0 in the League Phase match of the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday 3 November, 2026 at Metropolitano, Madrid City.
After a first half that had no goal, the visitors broke the deadlock just nine (9) minutes into the second half through Karl. The teenager dispossessed Robin le Normand, Atletico defender, and chipped the ball without stress over goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
And, in the 74th minute, Harry Kane, who was unable to register his name on the score sheet in Spain, provided for Austria national team full-back, Konrad Laimer, to make it two (2) for the Bavarians and seal all three (3) crucial points.
Laimer launched a thunderous strike over Oblak and into the roof of the net.
The game was Kane’s first European contest since winning the Ballon d’Or in London, he was unlucky at goal, however, had netted in his previous ten (10) appearances. He attempted to hit the back of the net acrobatically but it went wide and a low effort went off target.
Another goal effort from Dayot Upamecano was saved by Oblak; the Slovenian goalie tipped the France defender’s deflected effort to the crossbar.
On the other side, Bayern goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, had a stress-free night, he was tried just once by Diego Simeone’s Mattress Makers.
Currently, in the Champions League standings, Bayern Munich are 8th with eight (8) points, while, Atletico Madrid are 22nd with four (4) points.
