It ended 3-3 in the international friendly between Russia and Nigeria on Tuesday 6 October, 2026 at Sovcombank Arena in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
The Super Eagles took the lead through Bursaspor forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, early, in the 10th minute with an assist from A. Bewene.
After Nigeria’s goal, it looked as though it would be an easy ride for the African side, but, the Russians responded with two goals before the end of the first half.
Akhmat Grozny midfielder, Lechi Sadulaev, levelled for the Football Union of Russia with an assist from M. Kislyak in the 30th minute, and, in the 2nd minute of first half additional time, provider, Kislyak turned goalscorer and found the second for the hosts to go in front at halftime.
The Russians added the third just nine (9) into the second half through Aleksei Miranchuk. The goal made the situation look hopeless for Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles.
But, Nigeria continued fighting and found their second through Benfica forward, Osayande Peter Edokpolor; and in the 4th minute of additional time, Venezia striker, Akor Adams, levelled for the three-time Afcon winners with Famalicao striker, Umar Abubakar’s assist.
Via X, the Super Eagles described the outcome as a “strong” finish.
The Super Eagles posted: “A strong outing with a youthful side.”
