‘Diabolical plot’ – NDC exposes ‘INEC’s plan to rig the 2027 Election with AI’

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is asking, how come Nigeria is able to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) to solve the problem of “electing public officers”, but, is unable to use it to deal with its “intractable security challenges”?

In a statement titled ‘INEC’s plan to rig the 2027 General Elections with AI’, the NDC said, AI has “suddenly” emerged an “attractive tool” for the country’s electoral Body.

The Party asked, why did INEC not “test run” the “efficiency” of the technology in “off-cycle elections and Osun polls”? It further asked, why is Nigeria’s election management body in a “hurry” to deploy AI in the 2027 General Elections which is just “less than 100 days away”?

The NDC concluded, “Something is amiss”, and called on everyone alongside the international community to “rise against” what it called “diabolical plot” by the INEC.

The Statement signed by Osa Director Esq, National Publicity Secretary, reads: “INEC is plotting to rig the 2027 general elections in favour of the ruinous APC by deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI). Suddenly, AI has become an attractive tool for the election management body.

“For a nation that has not been able to use AI to solve its intractable security challenges, is it the problem of electing public officers that it can now resolve with AI?

“Not even a test run of the efficiency, or otherwise, of AI tools in off-cycle elections? Why did INEC not test-run AI in the Osun polls? Why the hurry to use AI in the forthcoming general elections, just less than 100 days away? Something is amiss.

“All men and women of good conscience and the international community must rise to checkmate this diabolical plot by INEC.”

The 2027 General Elections will take place on Saturday 16 January, 2027.
