Bayern Munich 6-1 RB Leipzig: Diaz with the hat-trick as Bavarians go top of Bundesliga table

Bayern Munich have gone atop the Bundesliga 2026/27 table with a strong 6-1 triumph over RB Leipzig in the top flight match at Allianz Arena on Saturday 17 October, 2026.

The game served as a preparation for the Bavarians for their Uefa Champions League game against Premier League side, Arsenal, next week.

In the 12th minute, Bayern Munich took the lead after Joshua Kimmich’s assist was converted by Colombian forward, Luis Diaz.

Defender, Aleksandar Pavlovic made the tally two (2) in the 26th minute with an assist from Diaz; and in the 34th minute, Harry Kane provided for Michael Olise, who made sure to net the third for the home side.

And, just two (2) into the second half, English forward, Kane, recorded his second assist of the contest when he provided for Diaz, former Liverpool player, to net his second and fourth for the Bavarians.

Kane made it five (5) for Kompany’s Bayern in the 53rd minute with left-back Nathaniel Brown’s assist; and, Diaz was on target for the third time to make the scoreline 6-0 in the 69th minute.

The hosts thought they would not be stained as they looked to finish with a clean sheet, but, RB Leipzig got a consolation late in the 1st minute of additional time through Serbian midfielder, Andrija Maksimović.

Bayern Munich headed into the contest following back-to-back draws in the top flight match against “compact and dangerous” Augsburg, and, the Champions League match against Viking, but, returning to winning ways means a serious message sent to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal ahead of the continental showdown on Wednesday.

Bayern Munich and Arsenal will slug it out in the League Phase match of the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday 21 October, 2026 at Allianz Arena at 20:00 (WAT).
