Sporting Lagos come from behind to beat Enyimba 3-2 in Aba

Sporting Lagos charged from the back to beat Enyimba 3-2 in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match on Wednesday 23 September, 2026 at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Abia State.

The defeat on the Elephants on Wednesday is coming after the Aba-based outfit lost to another Lagos-based club, Inter Lagos FC, in the top flight clash on Sunday 20 September, 2026 in Aba; the Pride of Lagos ran home with a lone goal victory.

Enyimba took the lead against the Noisy Lagosians in the 44th minute through forward, Stanley Dimgba Sopuruchi, as they went on break the leading side.

But, seven (7) minutes into the second half, Sporting Lagos FC levelled through Abdullahi Abdulraqeeb, and in the 55th minute, the Elephants reclaimed their lead when attacking midfielder, Tobi Iyanda, netted from the penalty spot.

The visitors fought back and levelled in the 65th minute through Hadi Haruna, and, in the 69th minute, Sporting Lagos sealed the win with their third through juvenile defender, Daniel Aboh.

In one of the other matches on Wednesday, Barau FC defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 at Dambatta Stadium in Kano.

In its post-victory reaction on X, Sporting Lagos described its comeback win over Enyimba as “beautiful”.

The Noisy Lagosians posted: “A beautiful comeback away from home”.

Enyimba will play against Kano Pillars in the NPFL match on Sunday 27 September, 2026 at 16:00 (WAT) in Kano, while, Sporting Lagos will welcome Barau FC for the top flight match on Saturday 26 September, 2026 at 16:00 (WAT) at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Currently, Enyimba are positioned at the bottom (20th) of the table with zero (0) point after losing four (4) out of four (4), while, Sporting Lagos FC are 11th with six (6) points after four (4) games.

After five (5) games, Barau FC are at the top of the table with eleven (11) points following three (3) wins and two (2) draws.
