English side, Manchester City, fought from the back to finish 2-2 in the Uefa Women’s Champions League (UWCL) 2026/27 League Phase match against German side, Bayern Munich, on Tuesday 22 September, 2026 at Uhlsport Park in Germany.
Bayern Munich Women and Manchester City Women both headed into the showdown as Germany and England Champions after winning their respective Leagues in the 2025/26 season, however, the home side were in control of the opening side of the game.
German midfielder, Giulia Gwinn, collected a through pass from Linda Dallmann to give Bayern Munich the lead in the 11th minute, firing past City goalkeeper Ayaka Yamashita.
And, in the 28th minute, the hosts went two (2) goals in front through an own goal; defender Kerstin Casparij made an attempt to clear the ball from her side, but, ended up putting the ball into her own net.
Manchester City rallied and found their way back into the game when Beth Mead pulled one back in the 45th minute; English forward, Mead, won the Uefa Women’s Champions League with Arsenal two (2) seasons ago.
Parity was restored to the game in the 86th minute when City found the leveller through German right-back Carlotta Wamser. The goal was the Germany international’s first goal for City, firing a low shot past Mahmutovic.
