Bayern Munich have started their Bundesliga title defence with a beautiful 5-1 triumph over VfB Stuttgart in the top flight game at Allianz Arena on Friday 28 August, 2026.
Goalscorers for Vincent Kompany’s Bavarians – Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise, Josha Vagnoman, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Luis Diaz netted in the 21st, 55th, 58th (own goal), 82nd and 92nd minutes respectively.
Vagnoman netted Stuttgart’s only goal in the 52nd minute.
Fabian Bredlow, goalkeeper of Stuttgart, produced several stunning saves to hinder Bayern before his side levelled after Vagnoman fired home. The German defender was unlucky after he struck the back of his own net when he slipped as he tried to clear a cross from Alphonso Davies.
Colombian winger, Diaz, found his goal after converting an assist from Bundesliga debutant, Ismael Saibari, in additional time. The Morocco attacking midfielder, a £43m summer signing from Dutch Eredivisie side, PSV Eindhoven, provided for Diaz who made it five (5) for the hosts.
The outcome means, Kompany’s side have won two (2) out of two (2) in the 2026/27 season, defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the German Super Cup last week.
Bayern would have finished the game with six (6) goals, but, Olise’s second in the 63rd minute was chalked off by Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
