Premier League Outfit, Chelsea, have announced the signing of Maxence Lacroix, France international, from Crystal Palace.
Lacroix, 26-year old defender, put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2032; he will amalgamate with his Blues teammates ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Frenchman arrives at Chelsea with a good reputation of being among the best defenders in Europe; Lacroix is also known in the English top tier football system for his fast pace and aerial prowess.
In two (2) seasons with the Eagles, Lacroix recorded ninety-eight (98) appearances and made history with the Eagles by winning the UEFA Conference League, FA Cup and Community Shield.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, the defender expressed “happiness” becoming a part of Chelsea, a club he described as “beautiful”. Also, he made known his “ambition”, which is to “lift trophies” as he expressed his readiness to “contribute” to the success of the Club.
In his post-signing comments, Lacroix said: “I am really happy to be part of this beautiful club. Everyone knows the legend of Chelsea, its tradition of winning, and to be a part of that is a proud moment.
“When I spoke with the manager, I saw that we have the same direction and desire for this club.
“We want to win. When you see the quality of the players here, everything we have around the club, it’s something that we can achieve. The ambition is to lift trophies, and I can’t wait to contribute.”
Lacroix kicked off his football at the Academy of French side, Sochaux, and recorded twenty-eight (28) senior appearances for the Club before moving to German side, Wolfsburg, in 2020.
He made 130 appearances for Wolfsburg in four (4) years before moving to South London.
Lacroix was part of the France squad that featured at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted in the United States (US), Canada and Mexico, where the Les Bleus finished fourth after losing 4-6 to England in the third place encounter.
