Feyenoord have announced the sacking of Dutch manager, Robin Van Persie, just after one (1) year and four (4) months in control of the Eredivisie Football Outfit.
Van Persie, who was a former striker for Manchester United, led Feyenoord to a second place finish in the Eredivisie 2025/26, coupled with a Uefa Champions League qualification in his only full season as head coach.
After accumulating sixty-nine (69) points, Feyenoord finished behind Eredivisie 2025/26 Champions, PSV Eindhoven, who amassed eighty-four (84) points.
Via a statement, Feyenoord Rotterdam announced, it has “parted ways” with the former Arsenal goal machine, adding, it will kick off the 2026/27 season with a new manager.
The former Netherlands forward leaves just two (2) weeks after Devy Rigaux’s appointment as technical director and Robert Eenhoorn as general manager.
Van Persie fielded for Feyenoord in two (2) spells as a player, the beginning and end of his career, netting forty-six (46) goals in 122 appearances for the Club.
Rigaux said: “Robin van Persie has given everything for the club over the past 1.5 years. He certainly deserves credit for concluding a difficult season with a final second-place finish. This secured Champions League football, which is of course very important.
“The conclusion was that it is better to start the next season with a new head coach.”
Van Persie played for Arsenal for eight (8) years, from 2004 to 2012; and Manchester United from 2012 to 2015. He was helpful in Arsenal’s winning of the FA Cup, and then moved to Old Trafford, where he lifted the Premier League trophy in his first season at the Club.
Feyenoord announced: “Feyenoord parts ways with Robin van Persie.
“Feyenoord will start the 2026-2027 season with a new head coach. The club would like to thank Robin van Persie for everything he gave during his time as head coach.”
