Rivers United recorded a “big win” in the top flight match against Abia Warriors on Sunday evening in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
It was a clean sheet as Finidi George’s Pride of Rivers cruised past Abia Warriors by three (3) goals to zero (0) at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday 3 May, 2026.
After a first half that recorded no goal, Rivers United opened the scoring in the 50th minute through Wasiu Falolu, and in the 75th minute, Timothy Zacharia added the second to strike out any hopes of a comeback for the visitors.
And, Bello Babatunde sealed the victory for Rivers United late, in the 89th minute, as the home side bagged maximum points to strengthen their quest for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) 2025/26 title.
Following the crucial win, Rivers United posted on X: “Another BIG WIN IN THE BAG”.
With this outcome, Rivers United are second on the table with sixty-one (61) points, closely following toppers, Enugu Rangers, who have accumulated sixty-two (62) points, while, Abia Warriors are 5th with fifty-five (55) points. All three after thirty-six (36) games.
