Peter Obi, member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has extended his congratulations to Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, after netting twice to help Galatasaray win the Süper Lig 2025/26 title on Saturday.
Via X, the former Governor of Anambra State described Osimhen’s performance as “brilliant”, and placed the former Napoli star among the many “talented exports” of Nigeria.
In his congratulatory message, Obi wrote: “I want to join other fans in congratulating one of Nigeria’s many talented exports, Victor Osimhen, for successfully leading Galatasaray S.K. to the Turkish Süper Lig title with a brilliant performance, scoring twice in the decisive victory that sealed the championship.”
Osimhen continues to be an inspiration to millions of young Nigerians with his “resilience, discipline, and talent”, helping them to believe “in the power of hard work, dedication, and excellence”.
Osimhen netted a brace for Galatasaray in the Süper Lig match against Antalyaspor to help the Yellow-Reds to a 4-2 victory at RAMS Park on Saturday 9 May, 2026.
The home victory handed Galatasaray their fourth successive Süper Lig title, and 26th in total.
Obi said, Osimhen has remained “a proud ambassador of Nigeria on the global stage, bringing honour to our nation through your achievements and conduct” adding, Nigerians are “immensely proud of you and your continued success”.
In his “truth” about Nigeria, the former Labour Party (LP) member said, “Nigeria is blessed with countless talents like Osimhen, waiting for the right leadership, support, and environment to rise, excel, and bring glory to the nation”.
He prayed, “even greater success in the years ahead” for the Nigerian goal machine.
Victor Osimhen moved to Galatasaray from Italian Serie A side, SSC Napoli, in the 2024/25 season on loan, and became a permanent player for the Yellow-Reds in the 2025/26 season after putting pen to paper.
The Nigeria international has gone ahead to win the Süper Lig twice back-to-back with Galatasaray.
