Arsenal have made a move closer to the Premier League title after Leandro Trossard netted a late winner in the top flight encounter against West Ham United on Sunday 10 May, 2026 at London Stadium.
The Gunners had been frustrated by the Hammers, who are still wriggling in the relegation zone, but, Trossard broke the deadlock for the visitors with Martin Odegaard’s assist when his shot struck Tomas Soucek and deflected into the net in the 83rd minute.
Prior to the goal, the Belgium international had struck the woodwork twice in the first half. Trossard’s goal came a short while after Gunners goalkeeper, David Raya, made a crucial save from Matheus Fernandes.
Following the win, Arsenal have now climbed further up above Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and leading by five (5) points over their title rivals, but, the Cityzens have a game in hand.
The hosts thought they had levelled in the 5th minute of additional time through Callum Wilson, but, the strike was cancelled by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for a foul on Raya. The decision came after a lengthy VAR check.
The decision infuriated home supporters, but, it handed the Gunners immense joy.
With this result, Arsenal remain at the top with seventy-nine (79) points, Manchester City seventy-four (74) points, while, West Ham United are 18th with thirty-six (36) points.
