Barcelona 2-0 Real Madrid: Rashford’s free-kick inspire Catalans to 29th La Liga title

English forward, Marcus Rashford, netted a jaw-dropping free-kick as Barcelona scaled through rivals, Real Madrid, 2-0 in the El Clasico at Camp Nou on Sunday 10 May, 2026 to clinch the La Liga 2025/26 title.

This means Barcelona have now emerge Kings of Spain for the 29th time; they won the title with three (3) games remaining.

Rashford placed the Catalans in front in the 9th minute with a free-kick before Ferran Torres converted Dani Olmo’s assist to seal the win with the second for the hosts in the 18th minute.

German manager, Hansi Flick, led Barcelona to glory on Sunday night despite losing his father. The former Hoffenheim manager moved to Camp Nou in the 2024/25 season and has won the La Liga twice back-to-back.

Barcelona are now seven (7) titles trailing record Champions, Real Madrid. The showdown on Sunday was the Catalans’ 18th victory in 18 games at home

Flick’s side are now fourteen (14) points in front of Real Madrid in the standings with ninety-one (91) points to Madrid’s seventy-seven (77).

Alvaro Arbeloa, Real Madrid head coach obviously under pressure, was unable to inspire his side against their hosts in the Sunday El Clasico. The Los Blancos’ chance in the first half was missed by Gonzalo Garcia.

Rashford went close to netting a second, but, his effort was stopped by Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois.

Following the title win, Barcelona posted on X: “CHAMPIONS
