Manchester City have released an official statement on the racist abuse directed towards midfielder, Antoine Semenyo, during the game against Everton on Monday night.
Via the statement published on its official website, the Club firmly condemned the abuse at Semenyo and commended the quick response from Everton and the Police to spot the person responsible.
Also, England centre-back, Marc Guehi, suffered “series of vile racist social media posts”, the Club made known in the statement, as it expressed its “incredible disappointment” at the incident.
The Statement reads: “Manchester City strongly condemns the racist abuse directed towards Antoine Semenyo at yesterday’s match.
“We welcome the swift action taken by Everton and the police to identify the individual responsible.
“We are also incredibly disappointed to hear that Marc Guéhi was subject to a series of vile racist social media posts last night.
“We will continue to offer our full support to both Antoine and Marc and never accept discrimination of any kind in our game.”
The Premier League clash between Everton and Manchester City on Monday 4 May, 2026 finished 3-3 at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool.
The result leaves Manchester City five (5) points behind League toppers, Arsenal; the Cityzens however have one (1) game unplayed.
