Manchester City 3-0 Brentford: Doku, Haaland, Marmoush on target as Cityzens continue Premier League title chase

Manchester City have moved two (2) points close to Premier League toppers, Arsenal, as they netted three (3) times in the second half to earn maximum points in the top flight game against Brentford on Saturday 9 May, 2026 at Etihad Stadium.

Jeremy Doku, who netted a brace for City in their previous Premier League encounter against Everton to finish 3-3 at Hill Dickinson Stadium and return home with one (1) point, scored the opener for the hosts in the 60th minute with a curl.

Erling Haaland made it two in the 75th minute for Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens and Egypt international, Omar Marmoush, sealed the victory with the third in the 2nd minute of additional time after the Norwegian striker had provided.

The outcome mounts pressure on Arsenal who will field against West Ham United in the Premier League match at London Stadium at 16:3 (WAT) on Sunday 10 May, 2026.

With this win, Manchester City have successfully boosted their goal difference against the Gunners, with one (1) goal trailing the League toppers.

The Bees gave their hosts some tough moments in the first 45 minutes and had an opportunity to go in front early in the second half when Igor Thiago shot very close to goalkeeper, Ginaluigi Donnarumma, when played in behind, however, City recorded twenty-five (25) shots to Brentford’s four (4).

Results:

Substitute, Phil Foden, had chances to register his name on the score sheet, but, he was stopped twice by Caoimhin Kelleher.

The result keeps Manchester City’s Premier League title hopes breathing while Brentford’s dreams for Europe got dented as they sit outside the European places in eighth with two games to play.
