Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea: Blues end six-game Premier League losing streak

Anfield was engulfed by frustration as Liverpool were held 1-1 by Chelsea in the Premier League match on Saturday 9 May, 2026; this outcome means, the Blues have successfully ended their six-game top flight losing run.

Arne Slot’s Reds immediately took the lead, in the 6th minute, through Ryan Gravenberch with an assist from 17-year old Rio Ngumoha. The Dutch midfielder curled the ball into the net from distance.

But, in the 35th minute, the visitors levelled through Enzo Fernandez with a free-kick.

After the Argentine midfielder levelled, the Blues became very confident, and finished with sixteen (16) touches in the box to Liverpool’s four (4).

The result sees Liverpool stay on the 4th position with fifty-nine (59) points as they continue their fight for a spot in the Uefa Champions League next season, while, Chelsea are currently on the 9th spot with forty-nine (49) points.

The Blues still have a mountain of work to level to qualify for any European competition.

There were boos at Anfield from home fans as Slot’s men struggled against the West London visitors, and at full time, there were more boos.

At his post-draw comments, Chelsea interim head coach, Calum McFarlane, said: “I think we could have won the game. We had some good moments. I remember Enzo’s chance in the first half, Cucurella getting into some really good areas, crossing areas,

“another marginal offside, another penalty shout that I thought, personally, I know it’s a tough job for officials, but I think that’s a clear penalty. So, yeah, arguably we could have come away with three points.
