Premier League club, Liverpool FC, has announced via a Statement the appointment of Andoni Iraola as the Club’s new head coach.
The Spaniard agreed a deal to become the Reds new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.
43-year old Iraola takes over managerial duties following the sacking of Dutch head coach, Arne Slot; the former Feyenoord coach parted ways with Liverpool at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season following poor run of the Club.
Iraola arrives at Anfield after three (3) beautiful seasons in the English top tier League with AFC Bournemouth. The Spaniard guided the Cherries to Europe for the first time in their existence after helping them finish sixth in the Premier League 2025/26.
The Statement reads: “Liverpool FC can confirm Andoni Iraola has agreed a deal to become the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.”
Iraola expressed his “excitement” after sealing the Liverpool head coach job; he described Liverpool as a “big, massive” Club.
According to the Club’s official website, Iraola said: “Really excited, really excited. Because obviously you know about Liverpool, you know that it’s a big club, a massive club, one of the biggest in the world.
“But feeling inside and understanding a little bit more of this club, I always thought it’s a special club. You don’t need a lot of things to get attracted by Liverpool. Liverpool is Liverpool.
“But obviously the atmosphere, the supporters, the club, the players, the chance for me to coach top-level players, the chance to fight for titles. I think it cannot be more attractive than this. It’s difficult to find it. So, really excited to start.”
