German Bundesliga 2025/26 Champions, Bayern Munich, have arrived in Paris, France for the UCL match against Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) on Tuesday.
However, Bayern head coach, Vincent Kompany has been suspended for the game after bagging a one-match touchline ban following his third yellow card of the competition in the quarterfinal against Real Madrid.
Aaron Danks, Assistant Coach, will take charge of the team from the touchline as they slug it out with the Les Parisiens, who are the current holders.
At his pre-PSG presser, the Belgian manager talked about his suspension, injuries and how he plans to defend against PSG.
Kompany said, he has been suspended but he still knows how to support the Bavarians, adding, his assistant Dansky has the “experience”, and, has “100% trust” in him.
On injuries in his sqaud, the former Burnley manager made known, youngsters, Tom Bischof, 20; and Lennart Karl, 18, “will be back soon”.
According to Bayern Munich official X account, he said, having a “full sqaud” has always been his wish, but, the current available players are enough to “attack this match”.
Kompany said, Bayern Munich have “got experience against them”, he however admitted, PSG are “creative” in the areas of “positional play and finding solutions”.
At his pre-PSG press conference, Kompany said:
On his suspension…
“The process is clear. I know how I can support the team. Right now, it’s about how we solve it as a team. Danksy already has experience, also in the Premier League. I have 100% trust in our staff.”
On recent injuries…
“We always want to have the full squad available.
“It’s not that bad with Raphaël Guerreiro, but it’s obviously a shame for it to happen now. Tom Bischof and Lennart Karl will be back soon as well. Sven Ulreich is back already. We’ve got the squad we need to attack this match.”
On the plan to defend against PSG…
“I can flip the question around. What do they do with our forwards? Both teams have so much creativity, also in terms of positional play and finding solutions. It’s about details, intensity and energy.
“We’re playing against them for the fourth time now. We’ve got experience against them, but that’s the same for our opponent.”
French centre-back, Dayot Upamecano, tagged Kompany his “role model” , saying, it is “incredible” to have him as a coach.
Upamecano said: “He gives me so much, especially his vision as a defender. He was one of the best defenders of his generation. He’s a role model for me. It’s incredible having him as a coach.”
