Manchester United took advantage of recent victories by defeating Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League 2025/26 match on Saturday 25 October, 2025 at Old Trafford as Brazilian attacking midfielder, Matheus Cunha, scored his first club goal in a 4-2 win.
The outcome means Manchester United have won all three recent top flight matches.
Cunha and his fellow countryman, Casemiro, scored for Ruben Amorim’s Reds in the 24th and 34th minutes respectively.
Portugal International, Bruno Fernandes, should have been the one to score the third for the hosts before Cameroonian forward, Bryan Mbeumo, did in the 61st minute from Benjamin Sesko’s assist.
The Seagulls found the net in the 74th minute through English forward, Danny Welbeck; Brighton continued fighting and got a second in the 2nd minute of additional time through Charalampos Kostoulas, who arrived from the bench, to make it 3-2.
But, Brighton were not able to score a leveller and United added the fourth in the 6th minute of additional time through Mbeumo, and that guaranteed all three (3) points for the home side.
In his reaction to Manchester United’s victory, former United defender and Sky Sports pundit, Gary Neville, said: “I think it has been Ruben Amorim’s best and most important week in the job. It gives him a bit of time.
“I am not saying he’s off the hook but Manchester United are up there towards the top of the league and it certainly takes a lot of pressure off him.”
