Uefa Champions League 2024/25: Barcelona 3-3 Inter – Lamine Yamal at 17 has reached 100 games for the Catalans

It’s truly beautiful – 17 years and 291 days old – the age when Spanish winger, Lamine Yamal, emerged the youngest player in the history of FC Barcelona to play 100 competitive games.

He achieved this feat on the biggest stage too, in the UEFA Champions League semifinals against Italian Serie A giants, Inter Milan, at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Furthermore, the teenager marked the occasion with a stunning goal and hit the woodwork two times in the 3-3 draw against the Italians.

The Spain international clinched the milestone following a game when the blaugranes were crowned Copa del Rey winners for the 32nd time after the grand final against Real Madrid at the La Cartuja stadium in Seville (3-2). A match that was decided after extra time and when the Catalan proved decisive with two assists – Jules Kounde netted the leveller for Hansi Flick’s Catalans in the 116th minute.

This means Yamal has broken his teammate Gavi’s record, who achieved the same at the age of 19 years and 29 days.

Following Real Madrid’s loss to Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey final, former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, said, the Los Blancos “need a controller, manipulator and rhythm maker”.
