The Israeli PM declared Israel “at war” on Saturday 7 October, 2023, the day Palestinian militants, known as Hamas, launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing hundreds of Israelis and taking several others hostage.
The surprise attack on Israel by Hamas forced Israel to launch ‘Operation Swords Of Iron’ to retaliate and defend itself.
The US and European Leaders have come out to say that a “two-state solution” remains the only option to end the fighting and bring about peace in the region.
Several Israelis are still being held hostage by Hamas, and until they are released, there will be “no ceasefire”, the Israeli PM said.
The fighting between Hamas and Israel has resulted to the death of thousands of innocent civilians both Israelis and Palestinians.
PM Netanyahu said: “There will be no ceasefire without the release of our hostages.”
