The United States (US) and its allies failed to reach an agreement on supplying German battle tanks to Ukraine following Russia’s threat that war could escalate in Europe.

NATO alongside defence leaders from about 50 countries had a meeting on Friday at the American Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
At the meeting, leaders in Europe mounted pressure on Germany to issue the go-ahead for the supply of the German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine to push back Moscow’s forces, however, a decision was not made.
The failure to arrive at an agreement to move the tanks to Ukraine may mean heightening splits inside NATO over supplying such weapons.
Boris Pistorius, Defence Minister of Germany, said, “there are good reasons for the deliveries and there are good reasons against, and in view of the entire situation of a war that has been ongoing for almost one year, all pros and cons must be weighed very carefully.”
