Ukrainian troops have successfully recaptured more territory in regions annexed by Russia, with Kyiv’s forces proceeding forward near the southern city of Kherson alongside combining gains in the east.

In Kherson, Russian-installed officials confirmed the advance, however, disclosed Moscow’s forces were digging in.
Forces of Ukraine pushed into the Luhansk region in the east held by Russia, as Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine President, revealed “there are new liberated settlements in several regions”.
During his nightly address, while speaking, President Zelensky said, “fierce fighting continues in many areas”, but, be did not give the nitty-gritty.
Reporters have been seriously kept away from the front lines as the progress of Ukraine’s counterattacks have been guarded closely.
Russian-installed leader in the Kherson region in the south, Vladimir Saldo, confessed that Ukrainian forces had made a breakthrough near Dudchany, a town on the Dnipro river.
Mr Saldo said, “There are settlements that are occupied by Ukrainian forces.”
He further said, two Ukrainian batallions attempted to reach the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, about 70km (44 miles) east of Kherson.
