FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: ‘We are among the four best teams, if we win the great Argentina led by Messi, that would make it the greatest historical game’ for us – Croatia Boss Dalic

Croatia, a nation in Europe, officially called the Republic of Croatia, has a population of less than four million – that is how tiny they are – however, they are pulling so much weight in football and reaching great heights in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Croatia, with head coach Zlatko Dalic, slugged it out with a very big name in the world of football, Brazil, in the quarter finals to reach the last-4 of the tournament.

The Checkered Ones defeated the Seleção Canarinho 4-2 on penalties to progress into the semi finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022, to face another South American team, Argentina.

Zlatko Dalic, was a former Croatia player, who featured as a defensive midfielder and led the European nation to a runners-up finish at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, losing 2-4 to France in the final.

Dalic says Croatia progressing through Argentina to reach their second successive FIFA World Cup final would certainly be regarded as Croatia’s greatest achievement in football.

The 56-year old professional football manager said: “The semi-final match against England in the last World Cup [in 2018] was the greatest match of all time, the game against Brazil comes in second.

“If we win tomorrow that would make it the greatest historical game for Croatia of all time.

“We are among the four best teams in the world – that is an extraordinary success for Croatia. It is a great thing for two World Cups in a row to be in the four best national teams in football.

“We want more. We are playing the great Argentina, a terrific team led by Lionel Messi. They are highly motivated and under more pressure than Croatia at this moment in time.”

• Who will progress into the final between Argentina and Croatia? This looks really unpredictable.
