Manager Graham Potter retains support of Chelsea’s board

Despite the heavy defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the FA Cup Third Round match at the Etihad Stadium, Chelsea manager Graham Potter still retains the support of the club’s board.

Chelsea got walloped 4-0 by Manchester City on Sunday 8 January in the FA Cup third round encounter, the outcome saw Pep Guardiola’s side cruise into the fourth round of the tournament to lock horns with the winner between Oxford and Arsenal.

Oxford and Arsenal will clash on Monday 9 January in an FA cup third round match at the Kassam Stadium.

Former Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Potter, has been under serious pressure after recording six losses in nine encounters in all competitions.

Chelsea have been booted out of both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, and sliding down to 10th in the Premier League.

Graham Potter replaced German manager, Thomas Tuchel, and Chelsea see him as a long-term appointment.

After the humiliating 4-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, Blues manager, Potter confessed, “We have to keep improving and stick together because clearly we are suffering as a football club.”

Several Chelsea players are currently injured, which is also affecting the club’s form, they are: Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling, Reece James, N’golo Kante among others.
