Kenya’s Edwin Kibet Koech is the winner of the 8th Edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

The 42km race kicked off at the National Stadium, Surulere and finished at the Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island.
Kibet finished strong at 2:14:08.
According to Access Bank Plc: “It was a grueling race but Koech Kibet stood tall, pushed through, and persevered, finishing strong at 2:14:08.”
Ethiopia’s Dekeba Shefa and Kenya’s Bernard Sang finished second and third respectively.
Guta Hereha from Ethiopia emerged first woman to cross the finish line. She finished in second place in last year’s edition.
According to Access Bank Plc: “Congratulations to Guta Hereha from Ethiopia!!!
“After finishing in second place last year, she came out strong as the first woman to cross the finish line! Perseverance at its best!”
Hereha is followed in second place by Kebene Urisa and Kenya’s Naomi Maiyo in third place.
Felicia Adetutu finished 10th in the women’s race and became the first Nigerian woman to cross the finish line.
Both men and women races winners have qualified for the Marathon event at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
