Hilda Baci: ‘Cook-a-thon challenge, one of my biggest aspirations’ – Nigerian Chef

Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci, has bared it all on why she embarked on the Cook-a-thon challenge.

Baci said, “the journey started five years ago” as it is one of her “biggest aspirations”.

Hilda Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the Guinness World Record of the longest cooking time by an individual.

Baci has broken India’s Lata Tondon’s record which she set in 2019, cooking for a total of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds.

The Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State is the venue of her Cooking Marathon Challenge.

Telling the story of how her Cook-a-thon challenge started, Baci said: “The journey to the cook-a-thon started five years ago. It is one of my biggest aspirations and I am glad that I took the bold step to embark on this adventure. I have taken time to prepare for this psychologically and I am proud to finally take on this challenge.


“The cook-a-thon is also an opportunity to tell some of the positive stories that come from Africa through the meals that we make.


“This attempt is also proof of the strength young people can exhibit with the right platform and support. I look forward to receiving support from people across the world to achieve this feat.”

Her struggle to make history has amassed huge support for her from Nigerians from diverse quarters including on social media.

Baci has been receiving greetings of congratulations after she broke Lata Tondon’s record.
